Mr. Vardanian is one of Russia's leading businessmen and a key figure on the national financial market. Prior to the merger with Sberbank in January 2012, he served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Troika Dialog, where he has worked since the company’s founding. 

The World Economic Forum (Davos) named Mr. Vardanian one of the "100 Global Leaders for Tomorrow."  In 2001, Fortune magazine cited him as one of the 25 "Next Generation of Global Leaders." He was named "Businessperson of the Year" by the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia.

In 2001, Mr. Vardanian completed the General Management Program at Harvard Business School.
