The Greek Crisis and the European Project: Three Scenarios and Some Lessons from the Fall of Icarus

HBS Professor Rawi Abdelal

On April 24th The Harvard Club of Russia hosted a presentation of HBS Professor Rawi Abdelal at 19:30.

The topic of the discussion: “The Greek Crisis and the European Project: Three Scenarios and Some Lessons from the Fall of Icarus”.

The Greek debt crisis is a defining moment for Europe - and a major threat to global financial stability. Yet the Greek economy is only a tiny fraction of the eurozone. How did this happen, and what does it mean? Only an informed understanding of the origins of the crisis can provide the foundation of the three plausible scenarios for the future of Europe, the euro, and the stability of the coming years.

Mr Abdelal is the Joseph C. Wilson Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School. He majors in international political economy, and his research focuses on the politics of globalization and the political economy of Eurasia. Professor Abdelal also serves on the executive committee of the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies.
